In the beginning, before the dawn of time and the birth of worlds, there existed only two celestial beings: Elyra, the Matron of All Creation, and Solarius, the Celestial Patron. These divine entities traversed the boundless expanse of the cosmos, their powers incomprehensible, yet their purpose undefined. These divine entities traversed the endless expanse of the cosmos, their celestial powers unfathomable, yet their purpose undefined. As they roamed the void, they witnessed the birth of stars, the formation of galaxies, and the emergence of countless worlds.
In their exploration of the cosmos, Elyra and Solarius were drawn to a particular corner of the universe, where a cluster of celestial matter began to coalesce into a new world. Together, they infused this nascent realm with their divine essence, shaping its landscape, its oceans, and its skies. Thus, Auros came into existence—a world brimming with potential, awaiting the spark of life.
Eager to populate Auros, Elyra and Solarius combined their powers to create the first beings: the Luminae. These radiant beings emanated the pure essence of their creators, embodying the light and vitality of creation itself. The Luminae were created in the image of Elyra, a reflection of her beauty and devotion. The Luminae excelled and formed cultures, civilisations and learned, guided by Elyra with her divine touch. She wished to give them free will, to create and expand by themselves, but Solarius disagreed. He harbored a desire for dominion and control, wanting to turn the Luminae into servants for their divinity.
In secret, Solarius fashioned the Umbrans, shadowy beings born of darkness and deception. These creatures lurked in the hidden corners of Auros, serving as Solarius's clandestine agents and embodying the darker aspects of existence. Unaware of Solarius's machinations, Elyra continued to nurture the Luminae, guiding them with wisdom and compassion.
As the Luminae flourished under Elyra's care, Solarius' envy and resentment grew, fueling his desire to assert his authority over Auros and its people. He twisted the hearts of the Luminae, corrupting some into the Umbral Court—making them loyal only to him and his ambitions, agents of his will. Few Luminae remained pure, but those who did were broken, mourning the loss of their brothers and sisters. Elyra, betrayed by Solarius’ deceit, mourned the loss with her children and resolved to create more beings of her own.
Thus, Elyra shaped the Mortalis, into which she imbued the spark of life and free will. These resilient creatures walked the shores of Auros, their existence shaking the known world. Elyra guided the Mortalis to the remnants of the Luminae, relying on her first children to teach the Mortalis compassion and share their knowledge. The Mortalis thrived, forming civilisations, learning from the arcane teachings of the Luminae. Some of the Mortalis made contact with the Umbrans, learning artifice, creating with the materials provided by Auros. Soon, great cities began to form, influenced by the immortal beings shaping the hands and minds of the Mortalis.
Despite the peace and harmony the people of Auros had found, the divide between Elyra and Solarius deepened, their once-unified purpose shattered by discord and distrust. Again, from the depths of the cosmos, Solarius’ resentment grew. He looked upon the Mortalis with disgust, their free will a direct conflict to his own ideals. Solarius cursed the Mortalis, taking from them their spark of divinity and ripping from their souls immortality. The Mortalis began to age, as the first elders of their race died.
As tensions escalated between Elyra and Solarius, Auros became a battleground for their cosmic conflict. The Luminae and the Umbrans clashed in titanic struggles, their celestial powers shaking the very foundations of the world. The Mortalis bore witness to these cataclysmic events, their lives shaped by the whims of the warring gods. Those that weren’t consumed in the conflict hid from the cataclysmic destruction, protecting themselves and their families.
Amidst the turmoil, the Mortalis exercised their free will, shaping the world according to their desires and aspirations. From their actions emerged new gods, divine beings who were embodiments of mortal will and emotion. These deities embodied the essence of the Mortalis, their domains reflecting the myriad facets of mortal existence. The death of the first elders heralded Mortus, the Silent Reclaimer, who guided their lost souls to their final rest with compassion and reverence. As the Mortalis discovered medicines to heal their illnesses, and bring new life into Auros, Elixira, the Goddess of Life, emerged to bestow blessings of health and prosperity. Love manifested as Amaranthe, the Goddess of Love & Beauty, who celebrated the bonds of friendship and romance that bound mortals together. Hate and conflict birthed Ravakor, the God of Mayhem and Chaos, who reveled in conflict and strife, sowing discord wherever he tread. War gave rise to Vorgrimm, the the Belligerent Warlord, who embodied the spirit of martial prowess and valor in combat.
In the aftermath of the conflict, Elyra emerged victorious, banishing Solarius to the Umbral Depths and reclaiming control of Auros. Yet, the scars of the war ran deep, leaving Auros forever changed. The remnants of the Mortalis emerged into a barren world, remnants of their once great city the only memory of the once great nations they built. Their past all but forgotten in the millennia of divine conflict, the Mortalis forged their own destinies, navigating a world fraught with peril and possibility.
As the Mortalis flourished and their civilizations grew, so too did the influence of their divine progeny. New gods walked among mortals, their presence felt in every aspect of daily life. And though the memory of the war between Elyra and Solarius faded into legend, the legacy of their conflict endured, shaping the world and its inhabitants for generations to come.
